Here is the dedicated team that runs the Gonville & Caius MCR and organises all the fabulous events! We’re an approachable bunch, so don’t hesitate to get in touch! Emails are listed below:

Julian
President

Hi everyone! I’m Julian (he/him) a first-year PhD student in Medieval History, and I’ll be working with the MCR Committee as President for this year! Alongside the team, I’ll be overseeing our MCR activities, keeping you updated with bits and pieces in College, and relaying postgrad opinion back and forth to the people with the hefty desks. Caius has been so wonderful to join, and I’m really excited to meet everyone coming to share in it with us in the new term! I’m always around the place, so if you fancy a chat (either about the MCR or just generally) please do nab me when you like via: mcr.president@cai.cam.ac.uk

Franz
Vice President

I'm Franz (he/him) and your VP this year! I'm a PhD student in Computer Science focusing on hardware-software security. My top priority is to ensure that the views of the postgraduate community are heard and represented at the highest College levels. I'm going to support the MCR Committee to create a great experience at Caius for everyone. Please do get in touch if you have any matters you would like to discuss with me - I am always here to help out as much as I can: mcr-vice.president@cai.cam.ac.uk

Rebecca
Secretary

Hi, I’m Rebecca (she/her)! I’m a first year PhD student in Law, working on international law and global governance. As the MCR Secretary, I manage the MCR Committee’s admin: organising meetings, gathering agenda items, writing minutes, and ensuring the Constitution is followed. I also look after Caius stash orders. If there is anything you would like discussed at a meeting – or if you have any questions or concerns generally – feel free to contact me, at mcr-secretary@cai.cam.ac.uk.

Finlay
Treasurer

I'm Finlay (he/him), a PhD student in AI-driven materials discovery looking for new electrocatalysts for battery applications. I grew up in Newcastle and studied at Imperial College London and Durham University before arriving here. I'm the Treasurer this year, so I'll be helping the rest of the committee with the financial side of the MCR. Feel free to get in touch at mcr-treasurer@cai.cam.ac.uk!

Floris
Male Welfare

Hi! I’m Floris (He/Him)! I’m a second-year PhD student in Land Economy from Holland. After serving as Social Sec previously, I am now one of the male welfare officers. Please contact us via mcr-welfare@cai.cam.ac.uk if you want to discuss something with me in private (coffee is on us!). Stay tuned for wholesome events throughout the year and let us know in case you have any ideas!”

Saba
International Officer

سلام و‌ خوش آمدید!!

Hello, I’m Saba (she/her), your international rep! As your International Students Rep, my role is to help address specific issues international students may have while settling into their life at Cambridge. Having lived in four different countries, I know it can be difficult sometimes to settle in, but I’m happy to support you in this journey and share some of my experiences!

I’m always available for a confidential chat and will try my best to signpost you towards relevant resources at College! Please get in touch with me if you like to talk more: ss2597@cam.ac.uk

Finn and Rajan
Freshers' Reps

Hello there Caius Graduates - we're Finn and Rajan, your 2022/23 MCRFreshers’ reps! We study PhD’s in Law and Music respectively and have a total of nine years (and counting!) between us living and studying at Caius. In our illustrious roles, we're looking forward to welcoming all new graduates to the college in October with our exciting, fun-filled and tremendously varied Fresher's fortnight. Watch out for our ReFreshers events too throughout the year.... Our combined expertise on all matters Gonville and Caius makes us well placed to answer questions from any graduates starting (or continuing) their Cambridge studies - please do get in touch with us if you have anything to ask about coming to Cambridge or Caius @ mcr-freshers@cai.cam.ac.uk.

Ujjawal and Rajan
Dining Officers

Ujjawal (left) – Hi, I’m Ujj and I’m a fifth-year medic.

Rajan (right) – Hey, I’m Rajan, and a PhD student in Music, in my sixth year at Caius.

As long time Caians and diners we have experienced the highs and lows of Caius food (make of that what you will…). We’re looking forward to working together, as well as with the rest of the committee and the college to put on some great food-related events for all MCR members!

Anthony
Computing Officer

Hi there, I’m Anthony (he/him) and I’m the Computing Officer. I’m a 6th year Clinical Medicine Student. I'm involved in maintaining the MCR website and helping with anything IT related in the MCR. Get in touch with any queries or messages: mcr-webmaster ( at ) cai.cam.ac.uk 🙂

Adam
Sports Officer

Hi, I'm Adam (he/him), an MRes + PhD student in photonics. I'm responsible for organising various sports events to get us out of the books and labs and into the outside world! I am to the MCR what Joe Wicks is to the nation. Please get in touch with me at mcr-sports@cai.cam.ac.uk.

Oli
MCR-SCR Rep

Hi, I'm Oli (he/him), a NanoDTC student studying for a PhD in quantum optics using colour centres in 2D materials. My job is to foster engagement between the MCR and SCR members at Caius, mainly through organising events in common with the Fellows during term. This includes joint research talks, dining swaps between the gallery and high table, and other one-off opportunities to meet the college big guns. Look out for emails soon with upcoming events, and feel free to get in touch if you have questions or want to get involved at ofjp2@cam.ac.uk.

Liana
Access and Outreach Officer

Hello, I am Liana a CRUK-funded 2nd year PhD student at the Department of Biochemistry. As the MCR Access and Outreach Officer, I seek to promote opportunities for postgraduate education at Caius to prospective applicants from underrepresented groups. It is incredibly important that once we reach out to students to apply to the college we continue to support them throughout their studies and beyond. I felt the need to establish this role due to the negative effect that underrepresentation can have on a student’s experience, regarding both education and mental health. For current students, this role provides an advocate for inclusivity amongst the graduate community. If you have any questions, need to talk or want to get involved in outreach, please email me lh671@cam.ac.uk.

Ashray
Partners and Families

Hello! I’m Ashray (Ash) and I’m in the first year of clinical PhD at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Just prior to starting, my wife (Emily) and I relocated to the UK from Australia, so we have some first-hand experience of what settling in to Cambridge life as a long-term couple is like! As the Partners and Families Rep, I’m responsible for representing the interests of those in the MCR with long term partners and/or children/dependents, and ensuring they feel part of the Caius community. Feel free to email mcr-married@cai.cam.ac.uk if you want to get in touch!
